Visceral Manipulation

Techniques of Visceral Manipulation

Visceral Position Correction:
An internal organ fixed in an abnormal position may
distort posture, create pain, and disturb or prevent normal
movement. Positional abnormalities caused by
adhesions may be corrected by Visceral Manipulation.

Visceral Mobilization:
Your internal organs may be moved by external forces, or
by your trunk and limb motions. When an organ is moved
by something external to it, this is the organ’s  mobility.
We determine which of your organs are unable to move
normally in response to external forces through manual
palpation, by observing your gait,  and by positioning and
moving your body.  We then access the deep structures
which are limiting your visceral mobility, and release
them so that you may move more freely.

Visceral Motility:
Your internal organs are moving all by themselves, all of
the time.  Or they should be.  This movement is called
motility. When an organ is in shock, trauma, physiologic
distress or constitutional deficiency, its motility may be
encouraged by subtle manual amplification. In Visceral
Manipulation, we assist your organ’s motility much the
way you would gently push a child on a swing.

What are the Benefits of
Visceral Manipulation?
Visceral Manipulation provides relief of pain, increased
freedom of movement, improved    posture, decreased
organ toxicity, and increased and/or balanced organ
function.

How Many Sessions Does it Take?
As each person's situation is different, the number of
visits will vary. Many people experience significant
improvement within three to five therapy sessions; others
may require additional treatment. You and your
practitioner will develop a plan based on your needs and
how your body responds to treatment.

When should Visceral Manipulation
be used?

Adhesions:  Adhesions form when the body’
s own healing response is over-enthusiastic.
They are areas of thick connective tissue
(fascia) which are holding together tissues
which should be free to slide and glide on
one another.
Adhesions can not only prevent organs from
moving, but can also restrict the movement of
fluids within the organs, such as blood,
lymph, digestive fluids and neural impulses.
They may even strangulate, obstruct or
completely block an organ’s basic
physiologic function. Adhesions may be
caused by inflammation, the result of direct
trauma, toxins, infections, poisons,
prolonged compression, or
surgery.
     Visceral Manipulation delivers non-
surgical release of internal organ
adhesions.

Organ Trauma & Shock:
Accidents, falls, blows, rapid or complicated
birthing, blood loss, even emotional crises
can interfere with normal visceral function.
Simple motility induction may release trauma
& shock from your organs.

Organ Fatigue, Exhaustion, Depletion:
Stress, overuse and malnutrition, dietary and
constitutional imbalances slowly deprive you
of visceral vitality.  Visceral motility induction
relieves organ stress.

Organ Toxicity:
Dietary & environmental toxins may be
released with increased visceral motility.
