Brian Scrivener holds a B.A. & M.A. in English Literature, part of a
lifelong passion for the power of words to both inform and transform. He
has been facilitating individual expression through the written word and
image as a writer, editor and publisher since 1978. His authors include
prominent Canadian figures such as Rick Hansen, Thomas Berger, and
Mike Harcourt, as well as First Nations groups.
Brian has co-authored two books and edited hundreds more over his
years in book publishing. Former Editorial Director at Raincoast Books
(the folks who bring you Harry Potter in Canada), earlier in his career he
was Acquisitions Editor at The University of British Columbia Press and
Senior Editor at Opus Books.
He has taught writing and communication
at Canadian universities, and in workshops.
He has been a member of
the executives of the Association of Canadian University Presses, the
Association of Book Publishers of B.C. and the Canada-Pacific Book
Publishing Society. He was founding president of the West Coast Book
Prize Society, which established the BC Book Prizes.
